Cat Lessons Through a Love Bite

My cat Kali-Ma is constantly teaching me life lessons, or ‘cat lessons’  as I  phrase them.  This past Sunday I was completely overwhelmed. I had spent the weekend learning how to Tweet, Instagram, and create a very raw web page for my new home business. That may be easy for a child but not someone my age. I think all together I was running on about 4 hours sleep total when late Sunday afternoon I just sat down and started to cry from exhaustion.

It was at that moment that my loving precious cat sauntered over and bit my toe where I sat! This behavior has been very typical of Kali-Ma, and it was actually just what I needed to shock me out of my pity pool and into a break from it all. I like to call it the Kali-Ma ‘Zen’ moment. This is one of her greatest cat lesson tools.

When I adopted Kali-Ma (read more about the Tail of Kali-Ma at https://www.tailsofkalima.com/about/), I was in deep grief and cried all the time, hence she bit me a lot back then! LOL Just a little nibble here or there. Enough to “snap” me out of it. She would then look at me with those big green eyes as if to say “excuse me….I’m right here….play with ME….take ME for a walk….take ME to the store and buy ME something….do something with ME….ME…ME…ME”. As we got to know each other back then I learned how much she liked to be out and about on her leash.  Her enjoyment of socializing, along with her little nibbles here and there, really healed me back then.

So, in true Kali-Ma fashion last night she gave me a nibble on my toe and I got back into life.  I turned off the phone, grabbed her brush and started paying attention to her. We played a little and shortly thereafter we were together in the chair curled up taking a desperately needed cat nap. When I awoke I was refreshed and she looked pleasantly satisfied with finally receiving some much over-do attention. Once again, that little nibble was just what I needed. It was a cat lesson for me and a cat nap for her.

Kali-Ma never ceases to amaze me with the cat lessons she teaches me….when I take the time to learn them.
